Ben Chiri - Administrative TOSA
Mug-shot

Hi!  I've been teaching Science at Roosevelt since 2002.  This year, I am an Administrative TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) teacher.  My office is Room 103 #1 and I teach TOK in Room #230 during Period 1.  As I still work closely with the International Baccaleaureate programming at RHS, please come see me if you have any questions about IB!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Grinnell College and a Master's degree in Science Education from the University of Minnesota.  My Minnesota teaching license is for Life Science and Chemistry grades 9-12 and I have recently completed a K-12 Administrative license at the University of Minnesota.

My philosophy is that all students can learn challenging concepts if: a) students challenge themselves by doing their work to the best of their abilities, asking questions, and discussing ideas with each other; b) teachers provide students with rigorous and engaging instructional activities that appeal to varied learning styles and foster academic literacy; and c) students are immersed in a community that is supportive of learning.  At Roosevelt, we work hard to ensure that these 3 essential components of learning are met.
