Hi! I've been teaching Science at Roosevelt since 2002. This year, I am the International Baccaleureate (IB) Diploma Programme Coordinator and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) teacher. My office is Room #151 and I teach TOK in Room #230 during Period 1. Please come see me if you have any questions about IB!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Grinnell College and a Master's degree in Science Education from the University of Minnesota. My Minnesota teaching license is for Life Science and Chemistry grades 9-12 and I recently completed a K-12 Administrative license at the University of Minnesota.
My philosophy is that all students can learn challenging concepts if: a) students challenge themselves by doing their work to the best of their abilities, asking questions, and discussing ideas with each other; and b) teachers provide students with rigorous and engaging instructional activities that appeal to varied learning styles and foster academic literacy.
I can be contacted at (612) 668-4830 or benjamin.chiri@mpls.k12.mn.us
