Teddies’ Host 2010 Roosevelt High School Track & Field Invitational
The Roosevelt High School Girls’ Track Team finished second and the Boys’ squad ended up in third place among a five-team field that participated in the 2010 Roosevelt High School Track Invitational, held at Al Gowans Stadium on April 19 and 20, 2010.
The Girls’ team claimed a solid second place finish behind South High School. The Teddies; running in their first major event of the season, ended up with 130 team points, behind South’s total of 171. Edison High School finished third in the meet with 87 points, followed by North and Patrick Henry High Schools.
The Roosevelt Boys’ wound up in the middle of the pack with 77-point team effort, ending up in third place just ahead of Henry’s 74-point effort. North High School won the boy’s meet by edging South HS, 139 points to 138.
The Roosevelt Girls’ were paced by the efforts of several participants. Ebonie Snider was a two-event winner, claiming first in both the 100 meter High Hurdles and 300m Low Hurdles. She was also second in the Long Jump.
Desiree Richardson also won two events, the Shot Put and Discus. She was joined by Racquel James who claimed team points for the Teddies with a second place finish in the Shot Put and third place in the Discus.
Adding to the Girls’ Team Total were: Gloria Williams who won the 100m Dash; Glory Finley, who captured the 400m Dash; and the Teddies’ 4 x 100m Relay, who captured first in their event.
The Roosevelt Boys’ team was paced by Michael Hammond, who won the 110m High Hurdles event and was second in the 300m Intermediate Hurdles. Alexsander Gebriel ran second in the 400m Dash, missing first place by four-tenths of a second. The Teddies’ Boys’ team also fared well in the relay events, winning the 4x200m Relay and taking second in both the 4x100m Relay and the 4x400m Relay.
