I earned my secondary social studies license and middle school endorsement at the University of Minnesota. I taught ten years of middle school social studies (in Arizona, Hopkins, MN, and Minneapolis) before coming to Roosevelt. I have taught courses such as Civics, Intro to African History, Economics as if People Mattered, Gender Studies, U.S. History, and Theory of Knowledge. I am currently working on my doctorate in Social Studies and Teacher Education, with and emphasis on urban teacher preparation.
I work part-time at RHS as partnership liaison, a co-funded position between Roosevelt and the University of Minnesota. I also work as the School Partnership Network Coordinator in the Office of Teacher Education at the UMN.
My favorite authors are Junot Diaz, Sherman Alexie, Tim O'Brien, and Edwidge Danticat. I love reading young adult novels, and my newest favorite is Counting By 7s, by Holly Goldberg Sloan.
