About Me: My name Miskwa-mukwa translated into English means Red-Bear, I am Ojibwe from the red lake nation in northern Minnesota and currently live in Minneapolis. I am a graduate with a Degree in American Indian Studies/education. I am very passionate about helping youth excel both in school and in life. Some things I like to do is Draw/Paint, dance, read and travel.
My Role at Roosevelt: I Provide mentoring for the 9-10 grade Native American Students at Roosevelt. I help guide them into self-advocacy and provide resources based on needs while helping students and families keep up with grades, assignments and students over all school success. I am also the advisor for The Native American Leadership club in which youth will be learning leadership qualities and skills from a traditional and contemporary perspective.
