Welcome to Roosevelt's Health Office
Liz Payton, Licensed School Nurse:
I have been at Roosevelt High School since 2012. I have worked in the Minneapolis Public Schools since 2002 starting in elementary schools. From 2005 through 2012, I was a City wide resource school nurse, working in various health offices around the District, and assisting nurses with the special education process.
Educational background: I received my BA at the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul in Nursing in 1986. I completed a MS in Nursing In 2001, in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program with a focus in Children With Special Health Care Needs at the U of MN, Twin Cities.
Prior to working as a school nurse I had worked at Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare since 1991, and continue to work there on casual basis during the time off in the summers.
Shirley Boock - Licensed Practical Nurse
I began working in the Minneapolis Public School district at Roosevelt High School October 2009.
My hours in the Health Office are Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Prior to working in the health care field, I worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. I was a Manager and Bartender at such places as Pittsburgh Blue, Tanners, Champs, Mississippi LIve and Pacific Club. In addition, I have worked as a flight attendant, preschool teacher, day care owner, and a cake decorator.
Educational background
I first entered the health care field as a certified nursing assistant receiving my certification from Anoka Technical College. I continued my education at Anoka Techincal College and received my Licensed Practical Nursing degree. I have a background in Child Psychology where I studied at the University of Minnesota.
I have a love for learning and am currently pursuing my Registered Nursing (R.N.) degree and hope to one day achieve a Bachelor of Nursing (B.S.N.) degree.
While not working or in school, I enjoy cooking, gardening and spending time outdoors. My favorite pasttime, however, is just spending time with my three children ages 14, 12, and 5.
Office hours: The Health Office is open from 8:00 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. every school day.
