My name is Molly Sheahan-Spector (but the kids call me Ms. Spector), and I am an English teacher for 9th grade and IB Language and Literature HL Year 2. This is my sixth year at Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, MN. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Catherine University in 2009. Then, I went on to teach in Minneapolis Public Schools. I teach English all day long, which is great, because it is my favorite!

Humanities
The Last Day of School with one of my classes.
I also mentor many students through their high school journeys.

In my spare time, I love to bake, read, sew, and bike. I really love storytelling and interacting with people. I love to travel and spend time with my family. I am married, and my wife and I spend our days chasing our two year old son around the Keewaydin neighborhood. My favorite things to teach are literature lenses (my favorite books include The Catcher in the Rye and Sherman Alexie novels) and grammar.

In 9th grade English, we'll be exploring the literary lenses. Also, you should plan for a lot of writing and more autonomy in speaking and listening.

IB Language and Literature HL Year 2 is going to be starting with Part 2: Language and Mass Media in first semester which will include the completion of Written Tasks 1 & 2, as well as your Further Oral Activity (FOA).

Part 3: Literature- texts and contexts will follow for second semester, and will include the completion of both IB Exams in May (Papers 1 & 2).

I'm so excited to learn with you this year!
