Welcome to the Attendance Office

Please reach out directly to the teacher(s) if your student has an attendance error.

The Attendance Office is open in the mornings.

  • Absences
    • Parents should email the Attendance office at Roosevelt.attendance@mpls.k12.mn.us to report an absenceWe need your student’s first and last name, ID (if known), date of and the reason for the absence.
    • Students can also bring a note from their parent/guardian upon their return that contains the student’s name, ID, date(s) of absence, reason(s) for absence, and the parent’s signature. If the parent cannot write, their student may write the note, but the parent must sign it.
    • Students 18 and older may excuse their own absences. Compliance with all attendance policies is required.
  • Appointments
    • Please make appointments during school release days when possible.
    • Per the district, all appointments need a note from the provider in order to be excused. Absences will be excused after the provider’s note is delivered.
      • You can have the provider forward us a note via email to roosevelt.attendance@mpls.k12.mn.us or fax to 612-668-4893.
      • Students can turn in a copy of the provider’s note (or a business card if they do not provide notes) to the attendance office upon their return to school.
  • Leaving During the School Day
    • In order to be released during the school day, email roosevelt.attendance@mpls.k12.mn.us or send a note in with your student with their name, date, time they need to  be excused and the reason.  Have them come see the attendance clerk before school starts the day of and we will write them an exit pass that they can show to their teacher and front door monitor when it is time for them to leave.
    • You may also come in with your picture ID to sign them out at the front desk.  Please leave extra time for this process as it can sometimes take a while to track students down.
    • Persons coming to pick up a student MUST be on the student’s contact list. Data Privacy laws state we cannot share information about students with people who do not have authorization; we cannot even tell them if they attend school here or if they are in the building. You can update contact information with the registrar.
    • Phone calls are not acceptable as we need written proof from the parent.
