Roosevelt High School BEACONS

Beacons has partnered with Roosevelt High School since 2012 to provide high quality after-school programming with a youth development focus. We strive to build positive relationships, build on strengths, and have fun while learning and growing together.

Hip Hop Arts

Create and record your own music and vocal art.

Weight Room

Work out in our brand new weight room with certified personal trainers..



Get your haircut & learn the skills of hair cutting from a professional Barber.

Beauty Shop

Learn new beauty tips for yourself and to try on friends and family.


Open Gym

Have fun playing and learning the rules of  Basketball and Soccer.

Intramural Sports

Play soccer, basketball, and Ultimate in a relaxed, yet competitive league with friends.



Cook different foods and learn about healthy eating with a professional chef.


Crafts Crazy

Make creative crafts with frineds.

South Side Rockers

Roosevelt High School’s one and only Breakdancing B-Boy/B-Girl Crew.

Latino Leadership

Beacons partners with La Oportunidad to provide students with college and career readiness and leadership opportunities.

About Beacons

Beacons centers transform schools into active youth centers afterschool and in the summer, providing free high quality youth development opportunities with an emphasis on:
  • School increasing academic skills, school connectedness, and motivation to learn.
  • Youth engaging youth through service-learning, character development, and decision-making opportunities.
  • Family involving families in decision making and connecting them to the school and community.
  • Community-School creating linkages between the school and community-based organizations, businesses, and colleges that can increase opportunities and connections for youth in their communities.
Each year, Beacons serves over 2500 young people and their families at our 8 Beacons Centers located in neighborhoods in North, Northeast, and South Minneapolis.
