Dear Roosevelt families,
Bienvenidos a mi clase de español! My name is Julio Bustamante, I am very excited to be here teaching Spanish at Roosevelt High School for levels 2 and 3, and ELL. I am from Ecuador, and I have experience teaching Spanish for 24 years here in the USA and overseas. Because I have taught Spanish and lived in different countries around the world, I encourage my students to learn beyond what they see in front of them but into a world rich with culture and opportunity.
I enjoy teaching my language and the culture of Latin America. I believe that learning is a lifelong adventure and that exploring knowledge expands and enriches our lives.
I went to University of Washington to get my BA in Spanish and Latin American Studies, and after that I went to the UNC of Charlotte to get my Spanish K-12 teaching certificate.
My hobbies include Kitesurfing, soccer, racquetball, camping, traveling, ping-pong, etc.
I am looking forward to an exciting year of teaching, mutual respect and hard work.
