What is GEAR UP
GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded college access program located within the Minneapolis Public School District serving 2,395 students across 5 high schools. The goal of GEAR UP is to ensure that students graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education. We provide programs and services to help students achieve their dreams of going to college.
College & Career Readiness: College Visits; Educational Field Trips; Postsecondary Readiness Workshops; Career Exploration Workshops; Financial Literacy Workshops
Graduation & Academic Readiness: Academic Interventions; Student Support Services; Student Meetings; Early Warning Indicators Student Tracking; Social & Emotional Support
Partnerships & Collaboration: Collaboration with Administration, Teachers, Staff, and Programs; Meetings with Families & Guardians, Family Postsecondary Workshops; Family Financial Literacy Workshops

Who Are GEAR UP Students
11th & 12th Grade: GEAR UP staff follow a cohort of students beginning in 6th & 7th grades through their first year of postsecondary education. This 2019-2020 year, GEAR UP staff will be working with 11th grade and 12th grade students
