Karen Jimenez Smith, LISW

Hola!  I am Karen Jimenez Smith and I've been a Social Worker for almost 20 years. This is my 7th year as a School Social Worker (and Teddy) at Roosevelt High School.

I work with students and families in our Resource program -- Special Education settings l & ll. I also enjoy working with Spanish-speaking families since Spanish was my home language growing up.  

I am first generation, Colombian-American, and I'm from Chicago. I moved to the Twin Cities in 2003 and now live in South Minneapolis with my husband, two children, and our awesome pup!

I graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a BA in Liberal Arts. I then volunteered in Guatemala for 2 years, where I found my passion in working with children and families. I returned to the US and received an MSW at St. Catherine University in St. Paul.
