I am so excited to be developing and working with your students on this new program at Roosevelt this year! This is my 16th year in public education, I have taught mostly middle school and high school in Bilingual and Social Studies Education in MPS and Brooklyn Park. I also teach in the Education Department at Augsburg University. Last year was my first year at Roosevelt, in the capacity of Spanish Interpreter and Student Support. I love that the staff here at Roosevelt works together cooperatively to support all student sucess!

I grew up in Chicago, and later lived in Minnesota, Ohio, Central and Southern Mexico, East Los Angeles, and now have returned back to South Minneapolis. I live with my 8-year-old daughter, two cats and many plants. Aside from my love of working to equitably support our youth, I spend my time with my family, cooking, dancing and gardening.

I will be developing the Work Experience set of courses in the Career and Technology Education Department during this year. These are three courses that begin with Investigating Careers, an optional Independent Study of a personal career goal and ultimately students may apply to participate in Work-Based Experience. This is a real-life work experience in the community based on student and employer goal agreement. I am very excited to support students in making post-secondary choices that will provide a livable wage for our students and stable foundation for all of our communities, as well as provide services and functions vital for our society.
